Donna L. Apperson has had continuous involvement in dance since age 3. Early dance training versed in Ballet, Hawaiian (Hula), Jazz and a strong emphasis on Tap. Education was continued and further enhanced at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. culminating in a Bachelor of Science degree in Dance Education. Modern Dance Technique, Theory, Improvisation, Dance Theory, Choreography, Ethnic and Liturgical dance were emphasized while in college. Donna has studied all types of dance under notable Washington and New York based artists.

Donna has been teaching since 1974. Active membership in the following organizations:
- Dance Educators of America
- National Dance Association
- International Tap Association
- Maryland Council for Dance
- Professional Dance Teachers of America Association
- American Alliance for Physical Education, Health, Recreation Dance
- Maryland Alliance for Physical Education, Health, Recreation Dance

Was selected and inducted into the following organizations:
- Outstanding Young Women of America
- Personalities of America
- Who's Who of Entertainment

Personal performances have included: both vocal and dance on local television, USO shows, nursing home/hospital benefits, entertainment for professional organizations, talent shows/competitions, shopping venues, performances/choreography in numerous concerts and musicals.

Donna is also the dance instructor at the College of Southern Maryland in LaPlata Maryland. She is currently in her 7th year of teaching Jazz Dance and leading Dance Ensemble. This is also Donna's 7th year choreographing the "Miss Phillipines Teenage USA Pageant". Donna performs liturgically at Oxon Hill United Methodist Church - performing solos as well as leading liturgical dance groups. Donna also has had experience working with children with special needs believing that dance is a form of physical therapy, but more importantly dance should be open to all!
Donna is a free-lance choreographer and welcomes new opportunities to dance, teach and choreograph.
