"Donna's Dance...A Studio" provides group and individual instruction in the art of dance for students in the beginning,
intermediate & advanced levels. The dance forms offered are: Ballet/Pointe, Jazz, Tap and Hula. The studio features combination
classes composed of two or three dance forms within one class period. Emphasis is placed on training in techinique without
loss of creativity, therefore providing "the best of both worlds" - learning but having fun doing so. The studio operates
on a yearly basis with a 10 month program extending September through June and a four week workshop in July.
The studio emphasizes technique/performance qualities, without sacrifice to body awareness or mental/emotional states. Programs
are designed to give dancers a positive feeling for their art as well as an awareness of their own unique physical capabilities.
Individual attention is stressed - the students/teacher establish a rapport and learn together and thus "grow" in their exploration
of dance.
The studio also believes in giving its' students varied dance works. In addition to the Ballet/Toe, Tap, Jazz and Hula dances,
students are also given the opportunity to learn liturgical, lyrical, modern, and ethnic choreography.
A major dance performance is given in spring with all students invited to participate. Our yearly concerts are held at the
College of Southern Maryland's Fine Arts Theatre in LaPlata, Maryland.
Advanced level students comprise "Donna's Dance...A Company." These students are featured in the end of the year concerts
along with many performances throughout the year.
